Recognition/Awards Alaska State Chamber of Commerce Names Diversified Investments Bill Bivin Small Business of the Year The Alaska State Chamber of Commerce named Diversified Investments as the 2006 Bill Bivin Small Business of the Year at their 47th Annual Convention and Trade Show in Anchorage. The Bivin award, established in 1993, pays tribute to businesses that exemplify leadership, ethics and organization. These businesses are recognized for consistent community involvement, an excellent business reputation and established leadership in their fields. Diversified Investments, Inc. fully embodies all of these qualities. Angela Salazar, owner and president of Diversified Investments, has been committed to the growth and success of Ketchikan from a very young age. She participated in the first student Ketchikan/Kanayama (Japan) Sister City Exchange Program. She was also nominated for the Girl’s State through the American Legion and named First Lieutenant Governor during the session. After graduating from Western Washington University with a degree in International Business she moved back and served on the Board of the Ketchikan/Kanayama Sister City Exchange. She has also been a consistent volunteer for the Ketchikan Chamber of Commerce, serving on numerous committees including chairing the 4th of July Parade for 3 years. It was this type of determination that led Angela to the top at Diversified Investments. Angela started at Diversified in 1995 as an administrative assistant. Within one year she had obtained her State insurance license for life, health, disability, long-term care and annuities. By 1997, she also became licensed for securities and investments with NASD, quite a feat, especially on her first testing! It is no surprise that she became owner and president of Diversified Investments in 2000, at the ripe old age of 27! More recently, in May of 2006, Angela attained the Certified Financial Planner designation, again passing all certification criteria on her first testing! It is this positive, can-do attitude that brings out the potential and drive to succeed in others. Diversified Investments is well known for their excellent customer service, always doing the right thing for their clients even if that means directing them to another business that may be more suitable for their needs. Diversified has moved forward by embracing technology and exploring new methods of conducting business. With Angela at the helm, the staff feels respected for their job performance as well as their personal accomplishments. They are encouraged to utilize their full potential through educational opportunities, expanding their knowledge and Diversified Investments’ excellence. In addition to educating all of the Diversified staff, educational seminars are provided for clients that cover a wide range of topics to provide up-to-date information on legislative and product changes that may be of interest to their needs. Insurance and securities agents require a great deal of trust from their clients. Angela and Diversified Investments have proven over the years they are striving to be the best and to be supportive of their clients and the community. This dedication is one of the many reasons the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce is proud to honor Diversified Investments, Inc. with the Bill Bivin Small Business of the Year Award.
