Pacific Seaflight, is implementing the first high-speed passenger ferry service employing state-of-the-art Wing-in-Ground effect technology in the Pacific Northwest coastal region, Pacific Seaflight is revolutionizing the marine transportation industry. We will be entering the marine transportation and tourism industry in Southeast Alaska as the initial market. Using twelve passenger "Wingship" marine vessels, we will offer passenger, freight and sightseeing services between Juneau and other communities in Alaska's Inside Passage. Juneau operations are scheduled to begin in 2008, after Coast Guard approval, with plans to operate two Wingships for scheduled passenger service and one additional craft for dedicated tourism flightseeing service around the Juneau area. It is anticipated that in 2009, a larger WIG craft will be available from the manufacturer, which can facilitate market expansion. Initial use of this larger craft is anticipated to be the Anchorage to Kenai/Homer market with additional craft serving the Juneau to Ketchikan circuit. Western Alaska Community Development Association (WACDA) is comprised of Alaska’s six Community Development Quota (CDQs) organizations. Our role is to act as a governance, advocacy and coordinating entity. The WACDA board of directors is comprised of the chief executive officers of the CDQ organizations or their designees. Morgen Crow of the Coastal Villages Region Fund (CVRF) serves as chairman of the board. Per Crow, "The CDQ organizations have been working since last summer to implement the new responsibilities set forth in federal statute. In addition to establishing WACDA, we have begun the process of detailing policies that will govern financial reporting standards, investment guidelines, community development plans, and the decennial review of CDQ allocations."
