What’s all this business about Business Week?
Alaska Business Week is a one-week summer program teaching the basic principles of private sector business to Alaskan high school students. Participants live on campus at the University of Alaska’s Fairbanks campus where they grow as leaders, mentored by Alaska’s business elite. The 2013 program will host over 100 students from more 35 Alaskan communities.
ABW is a Kickstarter for your College Education
Through our partnership with the UAF School of Management, Alaska Business Week is able to offer two college credits to all participants who successfully complete the program requirements.
What can Alaskan businesses do to help?
Alaska Business Week is not an inexpensive endeavor. Tuition for the program is only $475, putting ABW in line with other weeklong summer programs. However, the actual cost for each student will exceed $1,800. These costs include housing, food, program materials, and tuition and activity fees. We rely heavily on investment from our sponsors in the business community to make up the difference. It is their efforts and contributions that allow us to deliver this curriculum to so many of Alaska’s young people.
Alaska Business Week also relies on volunteer support from our corporate partners. Professionals from all levels of business volunteer to deliver keynote addresses, work as mentors and advisors to the students, and role-play shareholders and investors.
Get involved, donate to the cause, and find a future business leader to sponsor at this year’s camp!
